It So theres a chart going around that shows a regular BMOC of 75 per class. Not saying numbers will be the same for each class . Some more , maybe some less. If they promote more in each class numbers can fluctuate. Based on test being given in Feb 27 , looks like right around 3,000ish. Again , based on retirements , resignations and lateral movements, look for more promotions.

Im curious to see if the impending 12 hour tours will impact whether people may retire in September rather than July. 12 hour tours and no RDOs mean massive amounts of overtime. As a cop looking at numbers - you are looking at somewhere in vicinity of $50K for 3 months. Massive payday for those who are padding pension . I could only imagine if your a Sgt, Lt , Capt, at that rate your adding at least 5-10% to your pension just working 3 months extra. unless those can retire do in fact retire , we might see small numbers going into BMOC during summer , if any .
While NYPD curious what future will bring , NYC City Council along with the good Mayor are voting to give themselves an 18.2_% raise . Isnt that just swell ? But they vote down to put recruits in academy to help ease the pain from the thousands of retirees that will be heading for the door this month as well as next January . Thus proving true what Ive been saying for the past 20 years : instead of being proactive and hiring recruits to meet needs of shrinking department , lets be reactive and wait till we are down significantly before we rush to hire .
