Just a thought on skipping January for Sergeant . Many of you here are speculating budget cuts, attrition and vacancies. Have you ever thought that there isn't enough space for families when the promote such a big class? I've been to many promotions in the Academy and I have to park a mile away. You get inside and it's a shit show. No space for sitting and standing room only. So let's do some math. 100 Detectives and 75 lieutenants. 175 times 4 is 700! You have to figure that's the average of people coming to support the 2 ranks. Factor in the executives and MOS. I'm thinking it's close to 1,000. This is why we have an AM and PM promotion. The executives have to be there. Sometimes they can't make it for both. So you only have 1 promotion. This is probably what's happening. If you promote 75 lieutenants, you have 75 sgt vacancies. So we're definitely going to have a nice size class for February. I'm close to getting made to sgt and this was a bummer. So let's sit tight and not harass Lionel lol. This person has our backs and gives us good info.

The plan i have heard thus far is to promote 250 LT before the Summer and promote close to 400 by end of year, and SGT will follow. Either way the more Lt they promote the more Vacancies they create for SGT so even if they wait 4 months they will have to pick up the pace again

Sorry to say, a lot of these idiots dont believe!! lionel is correct!! and yes anything can change but as of now there will be no sgt promotion until further notice. That means a couple of months of no Sgts promo for Those who still dont understand lol. Ive been telling you guys this for a couple of weeks now

This is not confirmed but im assuming its because of the whole new sgt going to top pay ordeal. Last time this happened they didn't promote for about 4 months. When they ramped back up the put in a class of 220 sgts.

Current Lt. BMOC group was informed that there wont be any new Sgts promoted until at least April. This jives with Lionels intel. Be patient. Its not permanent and anything can change.

I wonder how this will ultimately affect the entire list? Do they even get up to 2000? remember they spent a lot of money to give this test and establish this list.

They will attempt to complete this list I believe with the mass retirements and now active LT list in place. I was in the 2300s on the last list and never thought they would finish it but they did and I believe the same for this list as well. This hold up is purely contract related and will be handled soon enough that they will start promoting again.
