This is nothing. Back in the day there was no such thing as failing / passing. You took the test, they made a list and If they got to you they got to you. People were getting in the 50s and getting promoted. Ray Kelly put a stop to it and made the 70 passing score

The .231 scale was used on the 2017 Sgt Exam, and the last Sgt and Capt exam. Safe to assume the same will be applied to this exam, but as always, anything is possible.

Agreed, with the .231 curve, a 61 with you get you on the list, thats not including if you pickup any throwouts or double answers.

I dont think the job needs as many LTs as you all think. Compared to last year theres only a few comands that are short LTs. Those same commands are terribly short on sergeants and cops but not LTs...going to be a slow crawling list no matter how many people are on it

There are 1,015 Lieutenants who have between 15 to 19 years of service.

Total active Lts currently is 1,701.

This is correct and in full swing. This administration's intentions are to make lists and promote on an as-needed basis. Realistically candidates in the lower tier will not get promoted unless there is a black swan event like covid and the riots where attrition became an issue. The method they are adopting will account for these potentially catastrophic personnel issues without depending on new exams. This all basically means, try and score above a 70 before curves and throw-outs and you will have a high chance for promotion. The lower you are on the list the higher your chances of getting killed on the list. Take all of this for what it is...All verified information.

Take 50% of over 20, & 50% approaching 20 will leave. Thats about 750 + 400 captains of whole list gets made puts the LT list at 1100-1200. Sounds about right.

If you go on that 360 app on the desktop.. total vacancy numbers seem to be higher. Lts. 1710 give or take, as opposed to the 1444 listed here. Anyone know why there is a difference?
