Had some guys ask me this so I called Labor relations and they told me its all or nothing for top LSA to top pay captain. Meaning you have to be at the top LSA pay scale 149k to go to the top pay captain. Meaning you hit your three year anni as LSA/LCD and you go right to top pay captain you dont have to finish that whole year up in that salary. Got DM s on this If anyone else can clarify better have at it.
Anything before that three year anniversary you will go through all the captain steps from year 1. Meaning two years in LSA/LCD you take captain you now start back to step 1 for captain.
Cant beat the money if lucky enough to get it. No hook or family otj here so taking the Capts rank is a no brainer. Feel bad for the Lts in squad or in specialized units doing the tap dance and still getting passed over for someones niece/nephew. Yes, need to be at top pay SA Lt to jump to top pay Capt

I am in the squad with $. If you run a busy squad you will get the money. Not busy you still get the money its just take a little. Where you get no money at least 5-6 years is narcotics. I dont even know why they have narco at this point
I thought the easier way to think of it, is that whatever rank you are and time in rank, you can never go back in salary by taking the promotion......Yes you might loose the OT but not the salary.
