I believe I'm in the next class ( whenever that is) if I request yo be passed over ..... will I be placed in the following class or will I be put at the end of the list?

If you defer you defer until you decide to get promoted. But theres also no guarantee you get promoted if for some reason something happens to the list youre on Once you defer.

You need to send a typed letterhead to the Uniform Promotions Unit so you can defer, and will need to send them another typed letterhead later on to be reinstated. Call them up, they will email you a draft of both 49s.

This is 1000% true. I got a text saying PC released email this morning TENTATIVELY scheduled for 27/28. All ranks no numbers. I was supposed to be promoted back in Sept so my guy doesnt send me anything unless its pretty concrete so we shall see

As I get closer and more and more paranoid, I have a random question:

How often does a passover come as a complete surprise? Assuming you're not doing any dirt and have no or trivial disciplinary history. Could there be a baseless pending CCRB or something?

Yes I am detective, though I don't see what those two things have to do with each other.

Starting on a Friday seemed odd to me assuming BMOC isn't held on the weekend.

I was hoping to be able to roll into an LT exam that would be amazing. Although, I am skeptical that they will finish our list 700 names with 11 months to go..doesnt seem good for those at the bottom and no classes being put in, I hope everyone does get made but I dont see 700 getting pushed out before January.

They promoted 583 last year in ten months without classes in November and December.
700 isnt too far fetched.

Listen I hope they do too, Im only 300ish names away so i hope they do big classes. Im just saying they usually do around 8 or so classes a year and to promote 700 on that, they would need to do close to 100 per class and they so far they havent been consistent with that. It seems like they care more about the contract situation then they do promoting at the moment. I dont agree with it I think its unfair to people at the bottom of this list but this is just the reality right now. I said earlier i heard from a source, and I only have 1 reliable source that no promos until Feb/March I hope it isn't true. If that is true you would need a promo almost every month to exhaust the list. I hope I am wrong but Has anyone here heard any talks of a class for this month? @Truth @Iamthelaw?

How is it unfair to people at bottom of the list. If it wasn't for covid half these sgts that got made and are getting made would have never gotten promoted. Thats why you have a list number they aren't mandated to promote you it goes by your score. Study harder next time

Listen man at the end of the day the list was manipulated to be 2700+ people. Originally it wasnt anywhere near that. So that means it was made that big with the intention of needing that many SGTs, and extended on top of that. Thats not the Cops fault it was done, plenty of people have passed previous exams due to throw outs. So if your gonna make a list that big and extend it with the intention of finishing it, then don't be mad if people are upset if it ends up being cut anyway. It still sucks for the people getting cut and I know plenty of people at the bottom of the list that studied but just had a bad test day. Bottom line don't drag people along with hope just to screw them over.

The last class was people who got like 80s. Even with medal and JST ****ery, throw outs, curves etc, people who got an 80 deserve to be promoted.

That being said, I too am skeptical the entire list is made at this point unless the job makes a conscious effort to do so, like by putting in a class with everybody left right at the buzzer. If we just go by the current pace, it's not gonna happen. I'm hopeful for everyone though.

You must be looking at another list, the last class was not In the 80s. Last 80s was in high 1500s

Who cares what the score was last few classes? My command you got people who scored 80s and who scored 70s and let me tell you that the score doesnt make you fit to be a god supervisor automatically.

At the end of day If you got a 70 you passed doesnt matter how or why so it makes no difference once you get promoted. We all learn the job the same. Just saying I think the list should be finished but I dont think they well.

I heard either the 28th or the 31st. I didn't want to post anything because it's far from a sure thing and everyone got the rugged pulled out from under them multiple times. No clue yet as to what ranks or numbers but there are talks of a promotion on either of those dates. When it gets closer I'll have more concrete info. Probably some time next week. Remember though. Anything can happen. It can always be pushed back again. We'll see. But props to collarsfordollars if this pans out. He talked about this a while ago.

January 31st. Been saying this all month. The city ratifies on 19th/20th. Why would the city delay this long just to put in Sgts before new contract locks in. Unfortunately Ill just miss out, wouldve been a nice Birthday gift.

Yes this is what I heard last week and everyone said they heard nothing. Like I said I have a very very good inside source and he is still hearing all ranks on 27/28

I have a question and this is really for those following promotions much longer than I have since Ive only really been monitoring for 6months.

Had the Department ever had 2 classes in a month? Feb 1st for example and then feb 28th?

Im curious if they assess the potential for a BMOC class similarly to how we do from a monthly perspective? Im not sure if Im making sense but I might be more clear if I try to explain the potential situation that could occur. Talks are class is going on Jan 28. Lets say it doesnt start until February 1st (feb is the shortest month so this may be a bad example) but can they potentially put another class In On Feb 28th?

Is there typically a period of XX days between BMOCS at minimum? Have they had one BMOC end and another start days later?

Sorry if this is a stupid question Im expecting the worst with promotion wait times but i would just like to see what previous periods of time between BMOCS are to understand what is the fastest the department could move if it wanted to.
