Initially I heard from someone in bmoc they said the 14th, then it was said it was the 9th and then June 30th which obviously did not happen.

if I was a betting man Id bet the 14th due to the horses mouth factor.

Unless you see a finest message with promotions, these rumors dont mean anything. If it was up to the job they would probably promote every month but its up to the city council. They DO NOT care if we put in another class till next year. They are not our friends and want to save money anyway they can.

That article points out that the City can use federal money to hire more cops. The budget was reduced by $1 billion last year at this time and we still put through what? Another ~300 sgts in that 6 months? Tomorrow we could have an entirely different story. I stick by a July class happening.

There is a new recruit class coming in on Wednesday July 7th. Maybe that's part of the reason. That's usually a 3 days event!

I am in the same boat. Trying to stay positive. Class will be scheduled and canceled a few times as before. Nothing new and not surprised at all. At least going in the next class whenever it is.

Rumor is mid or end of month. Just like last time smoke doesnt always equal fire. Budget approval and dept approval will dictate whether it happens or not

DCAS has a filling date for the Sgt exam 5/2022

When they give a test has nothing to do with your list. There will be potential promotions untill 5th anniversary of the first promotion from the list. The only thing that is unknown is if all umos from this list will cross that stage come that last promotion. Too far out and too many unknown variables to predict that. If youre at end of list just study for next sgt test. Also study lieutenant procedures as well since if you get promoted you will be able to take lieutenant test and not have wasted your time studying

No looks like its going to be given in like September October ish, the filing for that is in May 2022, our test was supposed to be given in October 2016 before it was pushed back to Feb 2017.

It doesnt necessarily have to be administered first. Apparently DCAS does not want to administer the Sgts exam in public schools as they have done so in the past, so finding a venue for a ton of cops may require more time.

The LTs exam and Captains exams could be administered at the DCAS testing centers since those exams yield less applicants. This could be one of the many reasons why the LTs exam has an earlier filing period.

Its also possible that they could push the test dates for either exam back if they run into any Covid related issues, they did push back our exam for whatever reason so if your at the bottom of the list you may luck out and roll into the LT test but if your low on this list its best to just study for the next SGT exam first and foremost
