I would also like to know how many current Lieutenants are eligible to retire. Does anyone know this? Also does anyone know when the last LBA contract expired? I see so many Lieutenants that are in their 40s, 50s and 60s with more than 20 years on the job. How many of these guys are getting Special Assignment pay?
The question is whether this LT list will be the first one cut in how many years ?

Also does anyone know approximately how many people usually pass on promotion and stay a Sgt? How many people on the list who will end on limited status and not getting promoted? How many will not have the required college credits? If anyone knows, please let me know.

Also does anyone know how how many police officers the department hires on a yearly basis? How many people hired vest out, and how many retire with a full pension? How many of these police officers stay as a police officer and never get promoted? If someone knows please post, thanks.

2006 Lt exam was cut in the 800s with a score of 77 or 78 iirc.
You also have to take into account that the economy was in the dump around that time. No one was leaving and they didnt have this anti police climate we have now. A lot of LT have over 20 years on and you will see a lot of retirements IMO.

This would be the second Lt list that would be cut if it is cut...
Close to 3/4 are eligible for retirement. Once the contract settles, you'll see a mass exodus of lt retiring.
We've heard that before... While we are speculating, the economy is expected to begin a downturn next year and these people may never leave. Who knows?
Just my two cents as I went through this on the 2006 Lieutenant list. I wouldn't get too caught up in comparing your list to that one. Each list faces its own set of circumstances. As someone mentioned earlier, IIRC the economy really went down the tank basically at the beginning of promotion from that list. Plus, Ray Kelly overpromoted something like 100 people off the 2003 list (the right thing to do IMO) as it was the last test that included city credit and it wouldn't have been fair to not promote some people that got the same exact score as others that lived in NYC. I'm not sure where your list stands in terms of numbers promoted so far, but it will all depend, as always, on how many people leave the job and how many current lieutenants are promoted. I'm no expert, but I don't see economic conditions getting as bleak as they were ten years ago, that should help with retirements. Good luck to everyone on this list.
Dont worry a lot of Lts are mentally fatigued. Some orginally wanted to do 25, some are now willing to pull the plug. ICO spot was once a great gig, now they are vacant and filled with rookie LTs.
