So 4 were passed over from 105 to 164 unless more than 55 are getting promoted Sept 28. Is sept 28th confirmed?

Don't forget, their are people who were passed over for not having enough time etc who will be in this class. So it's possible that either more than 55 people are going in or more than 4 people were passed over from 105-164.

There are rumblings on the Sergeant forums regarding mentoring. The Finest would drop tomorrow for them to start Monday Oct 29 for three weeks of mentoring and then they begin five weeks of BMOC before they get promoted for Christmas. I looked when the last Lts mentoring occurred. The Fnest came down Sept 7 with a start date of Sept 10 and promotions Sept 28. If they are doing mentoring for this rumored Thanksgiving Lts class- our Finest also needs to drop tomorrow Friday Oct 26 for Mentoring to start Monday Oct 29. Anyone with any intel?

Can anyone whos done mentoring before tell me if there is any merit to the program. I start tomorrow. When they sent us Sergeants to mentor (Id say the biggest transition) I would take them out and walk them through my duties as well as my decision making process as well as my judgment calls. Since weve all been supervisors thats not really necessary; I was wondering if there was anything that was shown that anyone found valuable that benefited you prior to actually being a Lieutenant?

LT mentoring is a waste of time, obviously. its 3 weeks of you taking lost time and doing nothing.

I know mentoring program is still really new, but Do they only promote upto the last person that went to mentoring class or they go beyond as long as u r not in non-patrol command?

They promote beyond. The mentoring is for non patrol Commands so they could very well promote a few names past the last person on the mentoring Finest list if those people are assigned to patrol/housing/transit. The assumption is as you get closer to promotion the Commands themselves are taking it upon themselves to mentor you for your new position.

Could this be the making of a new LT's position at PCT level?

Doubt it. The XO is responsible and will more than likely delegate to the Admin Lieutenant.

I wont bash it yet as its only been a week but I can definitely say having mentored Officers becoming Sergeants and having my command take initiative when I was up for promotion (pre-mentoring) I can see the usefulness as the transition from Police Officer to supervisor. Also I can make the argument intellectually for Lieutenent to Captain going from a mid-level manager to an Executive Administrative role.

Also perhaps this is more beneficial for a Sergeant whos been off the streets for a significant amount of time. But again Ill complete the program and then update with a more honest assessment. Also there is a new Operations order regarding Lts mentoring.

#217 & #218 are patrol and #219 is Admin. Since they stopped at 216 this would indicate either a class smaller than 50. Around 46-48 if everyone cleared is eligible. Fingers crossed for one last class in Dec...

Seems like 7 time Passovers and you'll probably get a few people who are cleared by CARB.

Based on the latest number information, do any of you guys have any new theories or opinions on whether or not this LT list will be cut?

So you're in the mid 800s on the Lt's list and the mid 1600's on the sgt's list at the same time and expect to be cut off of both lists???? Maybe if you put as much effort into studying as you did into trolling you'd actually be on a list instead of wishing for people to expire on them. Better luck next time.

Id say 850 or so and down should be safe.

Narco26 needs to be ignored. Hes just seeking attention and brings only negativity. He knows nothing and is on no promotional list. Guy seriously has way to much time on his hands.

By the first year mark we will be around the early to mid 300s, possibly more. There will be a lot of retirements after the contract is up as well. Its funny bc no one is saying the captains list is gonna get cut. If this list gets cut so does the captains. When they promote everyone on both list in the next 3 1/2 years, you can come back here and say I was right.

Well I'm hearing 50 for Nov 21 and a class in December of 50. So by the end of 2018 we should be close to the 300 mark. And I keep hearing about this mass retirement of Lt's supposed to be happening in May 2019, but all are rumors at this point but if it happens many more vacancies will open up.

So if they get into the mid to low 300s by the 6-7 month mark there are people that think they will only promote 500 in the next 3 1/2 years with an active captains list? That would mean averaging around 140 names a year for the remainder. Def going to be a lot more than that. All due respect Brooklynbacon your number at 850 is WAY too low if youre gonna play the cut off game.

Where is all this vacancy for 50 in december coming from, according to 63asap we barely have 50 for nov21 class...43 vacancies and 18 terminal...

This is true but they already cleared up to 321 so that would seem to indicate a lot of upcoming vacancies.

Back when the 2015 list was on the cusp of exhaustion, the job promoted well more than the vacancies showed. If the money is there, they can promote as many as they want (hence why some designations are well above the allotment, like Deputy Chiefs and LCD's). Similarly, they can keep vacancies open as long as they want if they feel the job is fine the way it is. That's why the vacancies are traditionally a good indicator, but never a guarantee. The 50 this month makes sense given what the numbers currently show. For them to do another 50 in a month, that would be consistent with over-promoting since the vacancy numbers don't correspond. Just my 2 cents. Truthfully, you never really know. I would love for it to be true, though, since I'm getting pretty close.

Look what the job did with the last sgts exam, when they over promoted 100s of Sgts just so they can take the 2017 LT exam. There is no rhyme or reason for anything on this job.

I have a question...So hypothetically speaking if there is also a December class , how would that run?

Would promotions be the week before Christmas and BMOC would run over the Christmas week?

I know I read on here that there is a rumor for a December class as well. Historically does anyone know how it been done in the past?

I am pretty close and could possibly be in the December class if there is one, that is why Im asking.
