Thnx as always 63..Keep us posted since it seems like those in the know are not in the know anymore...
Any new Info? Pretty quiet for a possible large promotion next week? What's the deal with mentoring? Are they still doing it for Captains? Seems like they have gotten away from it, or am I mistaken

I think it might happen. If the job has the vacancys and they are promoting Sgts anyway then why not promote captains. If they are anticipating a large number of cops going sick there is a chance that a large number of captains might become sick. If that happens and they have vacancies it only makes things worse so promotions might makes sense.
The job will go on, promotional and all With or without covoid-19 .
I agree, but the problem is now that the economy is in the toilet and everyone lost a ton of money i dont see anyone retiring any time soon In the next couple years. Just my opinion and not good for any promotional lists.
You dont loose money in your 457/401 until you cash out. Once you retire you can not contribute anymore but the money stays there and will come back WHEN the market rebounds. That is why you plan your deferred comp NOT on when you plan to leave the job but when you plan to start taking withdrawals. Your retirement year should have nothing to do with your deferred comp it's your anticipated date of taking cash out that matters. I can retire tomm even though I just lost a ton, because I dont plan on touching that money for years.

Correct !!! Which is why the ITHP & 50/50 are so valuable. Your pension and those contributions in particular, aren't effected by the volatility of the market.

Indeed! its sad that this job doesn't educate its members on financial literacy, making them dependent on the locker room financial advisers...
There wont be an exodus of captains and above regardless of when/if 12 hour tours take effect. Nobody really does the comp time/exchange anyway. Its a rip off. The max you can add to your pension that way is 100 hours a year straight time which is peanuts. So I cant see executives running out the door because they had a great year. Cops, Sgt and Lts maybe.

Friend of mine said 30 or so lts getting promoted next week. Also mentioned a captains class going in too. (# unknown) Both will have a short Bmoc class. Assuming no mentoring either.
Finest should come down today. 94 is next up but according to my records there are still 4 Passovers. Not sure if any of them are getting promoted this round. If its 25 with no Passovers that should bring us to 119. 116 is already a Captain.
