We're talking about great ranks? How about about a Sergeant working 8:57? 27..I repeat...27 chart days. ANNNNNND cash overtime. Lieutenant's not only get no chart days (yeah yeah well I wont be here in seven years) and they work 45 minutes a day for free. Screw that!!!

If you love the rank so much why did you even bother taking the LTs exam ? I'm curious ???

Because I have 5 years left and obviously its for pension reasons. Otherwise you can have it

Once you hit 5 years in rank, you can add 3 chart days onto whatever chart you work.  So it would come out to 30 days for an 8:57 Sgt.  It's an old addendum to the contract that was put in place in the 90's.

Actually its 28 max. 25 for the first five years then 28. And if youre in scooter chart, its 7 for first 5 years and then 10 after that.

Ive been a sgt a while now and am looking forward to the next step.

Sgts literally do 90% of the supervisory work on this job.

All depends on the individual. I know plenty of lieutenants who do a lot and plenty of Sgts who do as little as possible. Im in an investigatory unit. One of my Lt works as hard as anyone I know and the other one sits in his office and watches TV.

True guy. The point though is a Lt has the option or twirling his thumbs or helping out the team. The Sgt has no option but to work even if hes incompetent hes still doing some work...

This is why Brat will be missed. There's no one who could fill her shoes and provide accurate and valuable information.

I thought Bill Parcells was going to step in and be the next guru, but I guess he was just an act.

Youre right if the list was dropping this week I would think there would be more chatter. People would be posting like crazy but its unusually quiet... who knows maybe its just today due to Boyces walkout but I doubt it..

I agree. We'd be hearing more rumors and rumblings if the list was coming out this week. I think next week it is.

And remember there's no hard and fast rule that LTs have to get promoted up front. If the first class misses these April promotions, they can always start the development course and get promoted at the end. I'm not sure how long it is now (three weeks still?), but with all these vacancies I doubt they'd wait another 2 months for LTs to hit the streets (a month for the next promotion, and then a month while they're in the development course).

I have a feeling the DB movement has either curbed the rumors intil tomorrow or postponed it until next week. Youre on the money they dont always promote upfront for Lts. as much as we joke about that rank not doing much the job needs at least some of those vacancies filled.
