Congrats to everyone that passed the Captains exam. Is The July 27 Promotion going to be for Captains only or does that also include scheduled promotions for other ranks?

Couldn't see the Dept doing a capt only promotion..that would be a whole ceremony for 10-15 people. Most likely there will be other ranks.
11 as of today. Looks like the number of capt vacancies are picking up...which is a good thing. The job might actually go through the entire Capt list whenever it is eventually released. Time will tell.
I heard the same rumor: list would be at 1PP today, but it got delayed because like every list dcas messed up with medal/jst points that had to be added in or something of that nature. You would think that this being the 3rd list this year it would go off without a hitch lol, but its not that simple different people handle different things for each test so its hard to expect them to get some kind of grove. After this list another what... 4 years before dcas deals with PD uniform promotions. So i bet those future Sgts/Lts/Capts will be doing this same thing lol. Just like weve done for all our previous lists, youd think wed learn lol. Glutton for punishment lol. Just take everything like a rumor until you see it and youll never be disappointed. Only pleasantly surprised...
As of July 16, there are 9 captain vacancies (CPT through Asst. Chief), and an additional 38 on terminal leave. For captains only, it's at 12 vacancies and 12 on terminal.
As of August 2, there are 12 captain vacancies (CPT through Asst. Chief), and an additional 36 on terminal leave. For captains only, it's at 18 vacancies and 12 on terminal.
Edit: If those numbers sound weird or off, it's because we're over by 14 for Deputy Chiefs.

Forgot to mention....Union said that the job is trying to cut down on the total number of captains spot from approximately 350 to 320 and increase deputy chief spots by like 9(I think). Obviously union is fighting them on it and requested that the job instead increase the number of DI spots.
It is a big deal Bigfoot. If they Decrease number then guys not promoted will take longer to be promoted. If it goes from 350 to 320 then you are plus 30. Lets say if they increase di spots but decrease captains still. More promos from capt to di but still no movement on lt to capt
Let's do simple math kids..... reduce the number of total captains spot by 30 and increase the total spot of Deputy chief by 9.
-30 + 9 = -21......net loss of 21 total members in the CEA.
now lets breakdown vacancies......
350 goes to 320.... that means, in essence, the job is determining that there is no reason for the following 30 captain positions to exist.....
With the Aug 31 promotion of 24 ppl... there will be more than 320 captains, therefore, there are no vacancies and the rest of the guys will have to wait longer to get promoted.
Obviously, 350 won't go to 320 overnight and it will be achieved through attrition over time. This really all translates to list moving really really slow.....
think its safe to say that we all want this list to move the way that our Sgt and Lt lists went. However, vacancies play a huge role in it and less spots means less promotions. The list will run the entire 4 years unless there is a mad exodus.
They arent decreasing the total number of executive spots to my understanding... just changing the breakdown of captain DI etc. So it shouldnt make any real difference. They arent adding 9 deputy chiefs and cutting 30 captain spots. Yes, that would be a net loss of 21. But thats not happening at least with the info I have.
Bigfoot....the original post says "the job is trying to" and this came direct from the union guys on day 1. The union said that they are fighting the job on this because it will obviously reduce their membership strength. Not quite sure who your source is but please contact one of the 23 other guys in this bmoc and they would be able to confirm that the union guys stated this.
I wasn't trying to create any **** post. I was only passing along information that is pertinent to rest of the guys on this list. Thanks!
