Hi everyone, I just wanted to say that I am unfortunately no longer in a position where Im able to provide updates for everyone on vacancies.

Hopefully someone else will take the helm. Ill still be on the forum of course, and I wish everyone the best of luck in their quest for promotion to whatever rank they are striving for. Keep moving up!

It was over 150 vacancies not too long ago. Current vacancies should be more than 100.

class comes up for retirement in February. Youll see a boost after that. And they dont plan on a number of classes. They put in the amount of classes needed to fill vacancies. So far on this list theres been periods where they do 1 class every 2 months, then when theres a lot of retirements youll see a class every month. Sometimes classes are 40-50, sometimes they are 70-80.

So your saying lists dont get cut? Once list is established they have 4 years to promote off of it.  Please do tell how I'm wrong

Section 56 of the Civil Service Law fixes the duration of an eligible list at not less than one nor more than four years, but gives the Civil ServiceDepartment discretion to extend the listbeyond four years when there is a restriction on the filling of vacancies.

Dont feel bad. Everyone on this list wants to know if they r getting promoted or not. No shame in it. Again simply as a barometer right after the financial meltdown Starting in 2008 and moving through 2010 it looks like the city kept Promoting, kept giving tests, and was going through 300-350 list numbers a year.. Thats as far back as the forums go.

People are still retiring and will continue to do so. Promotions will be caught up as necessary. Dont freak out.

Lol. I get my info from a reliable source. When the rumor was 70 sgts, he was telling me 70 sgts. When it switched to 50, he was telling me 50. He got an email today saying that 50 for June 1 is on. But until you see a finest message, everything is subject to change. theres no finest message, so nothing is confirmed

This guy has been right on the money since this list was established. I dont know where he gets his intel but hes always spot on. This the same person who mentioned the list would have over 2,000 names.

Someone posted on social media that the pension section is getting up to 300 calls a day for past week or so. If this legit? Dunno.
