Dont think rising star was doing live classes for you guys. They started with our lieutenants exam. Ill bet these companies will be all out of business by the time the next test comes around. Or maybe their grandkids will be running them. Seriously, thats how long itll be until the next test. Lol!

For the future test takers who will stumble upon this a few years from now...

I signed up for Elite, split RS with my partner, and used some of the key material from friends. Here's my take on it.

Rising star

Hands down the most difficult and comprehensive questions. I really enjoyed their material because it really forces you to dig deep into these procedures in order to score well on their questions. I attended their one day cram course and I really enjoyed their style of teaching. They will be my first choice for a LT exam.

Key

IMO, had the best inbaskets. I wasn't a student of theirs so I would just go in and purchase the inbasekts. I signed up for their 4 week cram. I liked their rewrites but they did have some errors on them. Was not a fan of the packets since they oversimplified a lot of procedures and deviate from the language used in the PG. Key app is great btw. Used it as a supplement.

Elite

Offers the most amount of content. Interactive learning modules, crosswords, hundreds of questions, etc. Yanosik offers a lot. The Elite PG is very well maintained and I only read from that.

After all was said and done I scored at the very top of the list. Most important thing is to stay motivated. Do as many questions as possible and read the PG as much as possible. Every fraction of a point counted on the 2017 Sgt exam. You have to find what works for you. I have a buddy who scored at the top of the list and he only used Key packets as his main source of reading.

I just read the Key packets and did all the questions on the App. My overall score is in the mid 80s and my raw score was low 70s. I just took the exam because everyone else was taking it.

Strictly a Key packet guy myself, came out with mid 80s score as well. Although I did notice a number of errors in the packets, I'm going to have to put a lot of thought into which class I'm going to have to focus on when the next Lt exam comes around.

Tell you what. The key says you can get 15 credits from Aspen so I put in the work to get those credits. It cost me $50 bucks a credit for 15 classes a total of $750. Then I went to excelsior to have them consolidated with academy credits and credits earned when I was in the military. Excelsior wouldnt accept those credits from Aspen. A waste of $750. Just a warning out there for Key students that may need credits. Anyone know if I sent those credits to education and tracking unit if they would count those credits with credits I already have on a transcript?
