Theres absolutely no way that number is correct. In Feb the vacancy number was in the 60s with a ton on terminal. April they promoted 28 but 26 captains so that means 2 vacancies were filled. In May there was 15 promos. So you have a total of 17 vacancies filled not counting the over I believe 50 retirements in the rank of LT since Feb. theres no way those numbers are accurate.

As someone who watches the finest messages sent out by the pension section.... youll see a huge difference on July 1, and then again on August 1. People dont generally retire mid month. Also, this blew my mind. A sgt just put his papers in, who was hired in 1979. The day before that I saw a PO who got hired in 1983. God bless em

I was told from a very good source 3 months no promos. It was alil opinionated timeframe wise w the 3 months but could confirm this.

no, you are incorrect. 36k are umos. civilians which are 19k.. 55k total nypd employees they are aiming for 34k umos headcount.

False. They are now looking to formally put the NCOs and Traffic Safety under the SOLs purview. DV, NCO, and Traffic will now report to the SOL if the changes are approved. Do you really think a XO is going to directly supervise these 3 units with no Lieutenant in between? You dumb f***. Admin Lieutenant rumor also false. Yea lets have a f*****g civilian or a Sergeant tell a Platoon Commander that his 28 or his tour change is denied. How you think that would go over? You really are stupid.

I can not see that simple fact of holding off till the fall to promote people. It doesnt matter if there are 500 vacancies if theyre not promoting.

I want to be as positive as the next guy but i really doubt a few months from now the city and job will say ok the coast is clear now. Lets put in 50 a month for the next year.

So they just adapt a new way of supervision? Just go without a platoon commander? Maybe get rid of the xo also? Come on.. if the vacancies are there they have to be filled. maybe they will cut the rank by 50 total. You cant forget crime is going crazy, they will be back to hiring sooner then they want.

If vacancies are there that means the Dept is budgeted for those promos. Thats what creates vacancies, meaning the budget. It isnt a magical number. If the budget put money aside for them the Dept intends on promoting them because the money is there specifically for that amount. Or the theorized amount needed which was decided that created the vacant spots in the budget.

I agree. There are openings for all ranks coming on the intranet almost daily. I think once the summer ends and the personnel shifting gets sorted out promotions will resume.
