For our sgt exam I thought all the makeup exams were done. Some people that were away for military are taking the exam on October 31. So there you have it. At this rate I don't think the list is coming out this year. There is an officer from PSA 9 taking the exam.
If true, that makeup exam would take place over a full 8 months after the original test date. That'd be incredible.
The only problem I see is that if the TVB is supposedly over, what happens if those few people taking the make up decide to protest some questions, what happens? Do they wait a month to go to a protest session? Will they form another TVB? Will they drag their feet again?
We went from the list is coming soon to the list is coming before Christmas, this whole process is neverending.

I know its not trolling. I had someone That was asking for study material for His friend taking the test this month. I didnt realize there were others with him taking the make up exam. Maybe the 31st is the last day for them to take it, hes military also.
There is absolutely no(zero) benefit to the city/dcas putting out this list now or anytime soon knowing that they're not going to promote from this list until next spring. What would be the reason? To alleviate yours and my stress/anxiety just to see where we place on the list?? They're in the middle of a contractual mess with the current sergeant contract and there is an overage of sergeants as we speak. The city comes out on top not promoting us now because we either go straight to step 4 and stay there for four years, or go to top pay after a year(depending on which of these rumors are true). Im sure they're worried about and anticipating the many lawsuits to come if they continue to promote sergeants before march. If they really are giving a make up exam at the end of the month sit back and relax...were not seeing this list until next year.
I pass info as I get them. Yesterday I spoke with Mike and he said end of the year.
Today I came across this information about October 31. I was also told by a buddy of mine that Military test takers doesn't change out come of when our list comes out.
No body knows. At this point I can truly say there are no vacancies for sgt. I know community affairs picking up sgt and we had about twenty sgt retire this month. Also there was sgt getting promoted to LT.
I also know another guy who is still deployed who signed up for the test. Probably wont take it until next year. There will be military makeup exams as needed. The guy I know who is taking it just got the date for the exam within the past few weeks.
Exam No. 6540, Promotion to Sergeant (Police), was given on February 22, 2017, February 27, 2017, and May 30, 2017. There are no further exam dates scheduled.
Im just speculating, but I believe super late makeup testers dont affect the release of a list. Remember, even though everyone uses that one list DCAS releases after an exam, that list gets changed with added people, removed people who were fired, resigned etc.
I remember in 2015 the Lts exam was given in April. In December of that year (8 months later) a Sgt. I know personally took the makeup. Its possible and I still believe it wont affect our list.

From what I heard 7-8 people took the 10/31 makeup exam. That brings the total amount of alertante day test takers to roughly 65-70. 16 on 02/27, 40 on 05/31, 10/31 7-8, and there was another in June with less than 5 people. Im sure these #s are significantly lower than previous years.
I don't think they have much bearing on when the list comes out. I know a guy who still hasn't taken the test and probably won't take it until next year.
There are times where a list is already established and someone takes a make up exam. Having a few people take an exam on October 31 will have little to no effect on the "main" list. If need be DCAS will make an amendment. This isn't a sign of a delayed list.
