New Patrol Guide for the 2017 Lieutenant Exam!!!

Rising Star has you covered for the upcoming Lieutenant Exam! No more notes, now we have our own Patrol Guide! Our Guide is THE PATROL GUIDE, word for word, with:

--our notes, study tips, acronyms, and more.

--It will be edited to include only Lieutenant duties and below! No Duty Captain, Inspector, Chief, EMD, etc. duties.

--the "fluff" will be shaded gray (instead of deleted) so you can still skim it!

--Complicated procedures will have summaries or "take-aways" at the end of the section

Check out a sample here:

http://www.risingstarpromotion.com/files/Rising_Star_Promotions_Sample_Essential_PG.pdf

It's only going to get better since we are continually updating it.

We will post more info as soon as the date is announced.

You'll get our Essential plus the best questions found anywhere!

Remember, we were the only school to have anticipated the Ops Order, Crime Classification Guide, Judgement Questions, and so much more. We got you covered for this one.

The live course will be $699 for 20 weeks plus cram sessions.

The material will be mailed out a week before the class. You come to class with the material for over 3 hours of intense review. A digital Essential Patrol Guide will also be issued along with an edited Essential Guide with Lieutenant's duties and below.

We are now taking orders for the 2017 Lieutenant's exam! In order to efficiently schedule our classes, we are now taking orders to gauge locations for our classes. We will have classes in Brooklyn, Nassau/Suffolk Bronx/Upstate, etc. If you pre-order now you'll receive a limited edition Rising Star Challenge coin.

Details as follows:
Location and times: To be determined
Cost: $699
Classes will be for 20 weeks PLUS cram course. The material will be mailed to you a week before class! This gives you an opportunity to review the material before class.
Our classes will be over 3 hours of intense review!
A digital Essential Guide will be made available
Weekly online quizzes
A printed Essential Guide* with Lieutenant's duties and below (one section a week)

*The Essential Guide is our new Patrol Guide. It's the actual Patrol Guide, word for word, without the unnecessary actors (no duty inspector/chief, Operations, Chief of Personnel, Borough Commanders duties, etc). It contains notes, tips, new acronyms (some procedures will have multiple acronyms--you choose the one the makes you remember the procedure and cross off the others). Difficult sections have summaries/takeaways at the end of the procedure and the "fluff" is faded gray (not deleted, so you can still glance at it).

We will also tape the classes in case you miss it and we will be available online as well!

Pre-order now!

We're not sure yet. Hopefully enrollment is high enough that we can. Right now we have a spot in Bensonhurst--on 86th street--which is just righth by the Verezzano. We plan on adding more locations as the weeks go along to meet th demand....

How much is the study at home package for the upcoming Lt. Exam? And is there a difference in what is offerred in the live classes package other than the fact there will be live classes?

Study-at-home or live are both $699. The study-at-home will give you the same exact material as the live course. You just get the material mailed to you a week before classes begin. If you are a study-at-home student you are also encouraged to attend the live classes when you can (at no additional cost, but bring the material you were mailed).  The classes will be videotaped and can be viewed via a secure site (we will email you a user ID/password) if you do decide to study at home. Our tuition includes cram classes as well.

Done. We hope to have it up and running within the next few weeks. We will also provide all students with a printed Essential Guide and weekly handouts of the Essential Guide (one section a week) edited for Lieutenant only.

Can you offer a demo (maybe just 202) of your digital essential guide so we can compare to other guides.

Here's a sample from a few months ago (for the sergeant exam).

http://www.risingstarpromotion.com/files/Rising_Star_Promotions_Sample_Essential_PG.pdf

It's been refined since and will be even better. Here are some things to look out for when comparing to others:

1. Readability: the Essential Guide is easier on the eyes (sufficient spacing between lines) and the bold-type and parenthesis with form numbers  after each Department form have been removed! Also, the Patrol Guide is now online so there is no need to have the Interim Order number cited--overall this gives the Essential Guide a cleaner, more streamlined look.

2. The "fluff" is shaded grey. Anything that's common sense or simplistic have been faded grey. You can still read it, but it's not as prominent. Conversely, important points have been highlighted, bolded, or underlined.

3. Many procedures have multiple acronyms for you to choose from. Pick the one that helps you identify with the procedure and cross out the others.

4. Takeaways or summaries at the end of long or complicated procedures. A breakdown or summary of the important points are contained in boxes at the end of the procedure--not buried within the procedure which can be confusing and takes your eyes off of the reading.

5. Other test taking tips and points to help you understand the procedure.

You'll have access to the electronic Essential Guide  in about 2 weeks. The Printed guide will be shipped right after the test is announced and we post our class locations or can be picked up the first day of class.

Usually 7-9 months. rumors are this exam will be sometime in late June, so I'm guessing a Sept/Oct announcement with classes beginning sometime in November.

6-7 months is ideal for studying. You don't want to start too early (you don't want to burn out/plateau too soon).

Will we be able to print sections from the online guide? I absolutely hate studying off of a screen. That's pretty much the only way I would consider ordering early...

You won't be able to print it, but you will also get a hard copy of the book right before class starts. The revisions to the guide will be printable, however.

Depending on the number of people who sign up, we might have a separate Suffolk location. If not, then we will just have a Suffolk/Nassau/queens location in Mineola (Knights of Columbus on Jericho turnpike) on either Monday or Wednesday mornings and evenings.
