On 12/2/15 there were 29 vacancies posted. On 2/15/16 there are 13. The last Lieutenants promotions was on 11/24/15. Am I missing something here? Did 16 Lt.'s decide to come back and not retire? Can someone explain this?

Someone told me that because of civil service law, there has to be a proportionate ratio between cops, sgts and Lts... I.e. 1/8/24. I would figure this would mean that when another class of rookies gets out it would open up 30 or so Lt spots. Apparently this rule doesn't apply to capt's, hence the hiring freeze rumor on them? Thoughts anyone?

Civil service law would not dictate how many promotions a dept can do. That's up to the individual dept. If they want to promote a hundred Lt's tomorrow they will.

I thought Sgt and POs have a ratio the job wants to keep to. LT and above have a set number of
positions, regardless of PO and Sgt numbers. That's how the LT Vacancy number is usually set for a while while the Sgt vacancy number changes by the day.
It will be interesting to see who goes in the first class since about 27 out of top 30 took the test after April ..do they skip all of them ? Some ? None ? First class will tell a lot ..stay safe .

I hope all these scammers get passed over and never get promoted. I would hate to have one of these scammers be in charge of a platoon.

I would be shocked if they put a class of 50 lieutenants. I think 30-35 is realistic. The hope should be that the make up testers are passed over, which would accelerate our promotion date, especially considering the top 30 are all cheaters

I was thinking 30 - 35 as well. I wouldn't have a chance then unless all makeup testers were passed over.
30-35 makes sense because I believe someone said on the 2011 forum that they can only accommodate one class over 35 people. Since there is a sergeant class going in, I don't think they can handle a lot of others as well. Also if there is a captain promotion that will give us more vacancies, so we may be looking at back to back. Obviously this is all speculation.
Maybe that came off wrong, but what I mean is this:
How badly does the job need LTS? If it's a lot of vacancies there will be pressure to resolve this quickly.
Hope so as well, though I don't think the job cares about anything other than how the public views it. If the Department really cared they wouldn't have allowed this to happen in the first place.
From what I've heard the judge didn't order promotions to be cancelled, in fact he scheduled the hearing for Monday to not delay them. The job cancelled the promotions, shows how much they care about us. "Congratulations on a monumental, unforgettable moment in your life. Er, April Fools you idiots!"
As of today there probably won't be lieutenant promotions until June. The job does not want the test thrown out because it could take 10 months or up to a year to get another one up and running.

So what does the "job" plan on doing these next 3 months ? Are they actually going to investigate the cheaters and punish them accordingly ? Or do they hope this all blows over by June and just promote the cheaters who scored a 104, 99 etc. ?

We all know how this job works, they will wait it out. Start doing promotions once it has passed over hoping no one calls the papers again and brings it back to light. Or if someone does bring it to light they will state they found no wrong doings.
Last i checked a few days ago the job was short about 66 Lt's and with retirements (and assuming no one gets made) by the end of may they will be short 90 Lts
