Guys, I lets take a step back here.

I have spoken to a number of friends throughout the different pcts. and details throughout the city and I hear time and time again.... "20 people took it and only 2 think they passed." I also hear the guys and gals, who I know for a fact didn't study, tell me that the test was a "ground ball" and they "know" that they passed. I have no clue if this test was any harder or any easier than past exams, but it was by no means a ground ball." The test was hard simply for the fact that there were a significant number of questions on topics that would not have been the focus of most peoples studies. So if you think it was easy, good for you. But for the vast majority of people, it was not.

This brings me to my next point. 9000 or so people signed up to take it. I can tell you that a lot of people didn't even bother showing up, maybe 800-1000 paid and didn't take the test (statistically, this always happens). So, if you figure that we had 8200 competetors, how many of them studied several hours a day for six months? Perhaps 20% were hard core? Now its reasonable to say that you are down to 1640 real serious test takers, some of whom will not pass for one reason or another. Look at the math, 1,640 is about 18% of 9000 and we know that the traditional pass rate for all of these exams is 10%. Lets finish the equation. Would it shock anyone if a few hundred "serious studiers" failed? And add to that a few ****heads who may have cheated and you are down to about a 1200 person list. 1200 passing is still 13%!!!!

13% is higher than the traditional pass rate which only gives you a 1200 person list. The margin of error here should account for it being an easier or harder test. It is extraordinarily unlikely that they will not promote at least 1200 people in the next four years. And one final point, I read one INSANE post about how DCAS will implement a cutoff score? Please stop and use your patrol guide soaked brain for a minute. Why would they do this instead of just letting people die on a list? Come on! Does anyone believe that nonsense?

i predict a 1100-1300 person list. It will not be a "cutoff" list. If you stop believing all the rumors, the guy will stop posting them eventually. He hooks people and sits back and laughs and you guys are morons for believing anything negative thing these dopes say on this forum.

I feel that without studying, the only way you could pass is by getting REALLY LUCKY ON A SATURDAY. Conversely to what dumbcop says, i feel like the majority of the questions were from big procedures that you HAD to study. There were only 3 or so questions where I was really scratching my head (but I studied hard). It was a fair test because yes, there were plenty of ground balls, but they also made it fair for people who studied. You will never know who does part A B C of the LOD report unless you study. You won't know how to do loss of shield, gun, id card procedure unless you really studied. You won't know all the BS "verbatim" statements from the patrol guide in these questions unless you studied.

bump....the list will be 1100 at most and their wont be a cutoff----they used to promote guys with 50s!! now u need 70 just to make it---if u get above that ur getting promoted.the trolls are the same guys who start rumors in the commands---s***-stirrers.

Very well said. Dont let all the "rumors" drag us down or get all of us worried. The test is over now, it be the best feeling after the exam instead f worrying about non sence.

No, Honestly,  I did a xcel spreadsheet of yours, 20and, the super cop and his instructor FRIENDS? and a variety of people I know and have worked with who studied VERY hard and it is amazing, they are all very close and good... It seems were the discrepncies are, are between two answer choices, so because we dont know exactly what those questions were we cannot look them up and pick the correct. Its like 50% one answer and 50% the other choice... So with that said, for people like me it's the difference of passing and not passing... I blew it at the end... I guess self doubt got the better of me and changed a few that were originally correct... So I have to say that these keys do look very close to accurate....

You guys gotta realize that they throw out 3-5 questions on a average basis. That will help anyone out greatly. I hear from numerous sgts, if you think the test was easy most likely you did poorly (vice versa). I also did notice the same people going to the bathroom every 20 minutes. Fu(king cheaters!!

Mamabear,
That's great if you did a spreadsheet like that. Can you Post it here, and on the questions with multiples put what the 2 choices are. I know the key up is supposed to be good already, but I think everyone would love to compare to another one.

Just letting you guys know that 62 if it is the DAT question "A" is wrong. I put "A" and thats just the Fireworks. The answer was the perp who was arrested for crim Tres and the perp also with the Fireworks which was not "A". That is if 62 was actually the DAT question.

I dont think thats the question, CAUSE I know that it had to be 500 or more than or <18 for no DAT and Crim tres had to be of a commercial Bldg/Office... N I have A for that one, so not sure if thats the right # for that partiqular question...

At least someone on here has brains, MAMA Bear did exactly what I did when I took Sgt exam. Created a spreadsheet of all posted answer keys plus keys of friends and co-workers, obviously the more ans keys you use the more accurate it will be. Don't just use any 1 key posted and think it's gonna be accurate.
If you do that you will get a very accurate answer key, I know I did.

You guys are going to drive yourself crazy with all of this. I am in the same boat as most of you guys and I want to know how well I scored just as bad as the next guy. However, the only 100% accurate list is the one that will be posted in november from DCAS. This forum is just a GUIDE to gauge where you may be in comparison to other peoples answers. Use it as such. If you compare your sheet to the list at the beginning of the forum, and you have 40 or 50 of the same answers, its pretty safe to say you probably FAILED. On the other hand, if you had 80 of the same answers, theres a good chance youll be ok because of the law of probability. I see so many people asking other forum users "Will i be ok?" and "Do you think a 70 is good enough to get promoted?"... Listen, it is what it is. None of us really know. Trying to dissect questions and remember what answer went to what number is going to drive you crazy. When I compare my answers to the 20yrsandout list, I come out with around an 80. When I compare my sheet to a list that supposedly belongs to a captain from one of the classes, I only end up with a 69 ...Thats a huge difference. So whos right? whos list is off? Theres no way to know... I tend to believe that the list posted on this forum is closer to the actual answer key than most others. If 20 guys all have the same answer for a specific question, theres a good chance thats going to be the answer. id say play it safe and either add or subtract a few answers from your score and that should give you a GENERAL idea of where you may be. But again, theres no way to know for sure until Nov 14th.

And stop listening to all these idiots with their bull**** rumors. Some guy said he called DCAS and a "supervisor" told him the test is being investigated. Yea right buddy. Good luck trying to get someone with a pulse to even answer the phone down there. And to the guy with "friends" in IAB... Everyone on this job knows someone who knows someone... Me being one of them.. and my "friends" say none of these rumors are true... if you guys havent already noticed, there are a lot of "haters" and flat out retards on this job. Stop listening and responding to them... Anyway, Good luck to everyone. And stop stressing.. Theres nothing you can do now. The test is over lol Put the sheet away until Nov and try to enjoy the next few weeks.
