September Class

Hey I spoke to a sergeant at uniform promotions and she said she didnt know if the September class would go in the week of the 26th or labor day. Did the instructors at bmoc specify which?

Hey Fodx, the sgt from uniform promotions did say there was definitely a class going in September? Just unsure of the 26th or labor day start day?

I don't think it will be labor day if u think about it if ur doing that Sunday before the 4th you might not even get out in time to report to bmoc at 0700.. 2 years Ago in the 67 I didn't get out till like 10 in the morning I started Sunday at 1800 ..and it's hard to stay out if trouble that weekend lol .. Just a thought

Nypdblue, if you are scheduled to go into Bmoc on labor day the 5th, the orders will come down either 8/31 or 9/1 officially making you assigned to bmoc on the 3rd of sept. Essentially what that means is that on 9/3 and 9/4 are you RDO's and the first day of Bmoc will be 9/5. So they can put in a labor day class if the department feels like it. If they decide to do it a week earlier, orders will come down either 8/24 or 8/25, you will be assigned to Bmoc as of 8/27 which means your RDO's will be 8/27 and 8/28 and your first day of Bmoc will be the 29th of August. So to answer your concern Nypdblue, if there is a September bmoc class (which looks more and more likely there will be one) and you are next in line to get promoted you will not be scheduled to go to the West indian day parade also known as Juve... I think that's how you spell it. Hope that helps out any concerns you might have regarding that.

If someone can post the Graduation date of the current Bmoc class, we can more or less gauge what date is the next Sgt class.

If I remember, you are temporarily assigned to bmoc as of 0001 Saturday, and then RDO for those two days. So your command can't order you in to do anything.

Last September they had a bmoc after Labor Day i believe it was 2nd week of September, i think it was Sept 13th. so dont get ur hopes up for missing the parade. if there will be a bmoc for september it will be the 12th

LateRiser, I disagree with you. If the rumors are true and the department are trying to promote three classes before the Lt. exam, Sept. Oct. and Nov. (Nov. class would be promoted up front in late Oct.), then the September Bmoc class will have to enter by the 5th or a week earlier. If the class goes in by the 13th, the department will not be able to squeeze in the three classes by the exam date. I am just speculating no sources here. Also, Bmoc has started on holidays, the most recent were memorial day and 4th of July. So it can happen.

I heard a rumor that the January 2012 academy will have 1800 recruits going in, that sounds like a very high number, can anyone confirm this rumor?? The more cops the department hires, the more bosses it will need no??

They need to hire 2500 in classes again soon, or this job is gonna get pretty scary low in numbers..... its soo funny how no matter where you work, we all hate that parade. It should be cut down, before a cop gets hurt.... Brat for president for being consistent and loyal to this page.

If that's the graduation date, does that mean the following Monday bmoc will begin? Anyone in bmoc now, can you ask when the next class will go in?

FYI , I DO NOT KNOW ANY INSIDE INFO, but based on some theories and facts that ive been reading on this site, with a BMOC class that goes 4 weeks, starts on a monday and seems to graduate on a friday..... This "could be a POSSIBLE chain of events"......... The class of August in now, graduates on friday, August 26th..... A SePtember class COULD go in monday August 29th , graduate 4 weeks later on friday September 23rd.... An October class could go in monday Sept 26th, graduate 4 weeks later on october 21st.... And a November class could go in October 24th......... Highly unlikely, but possible, and very tight......AGAIN i know no inside info just lokkimg at possible ideas....any thought????!?

I'm thinking the same exact thing. That would be great, class starting on the 29th but we'll see.

So, sept class of 80, oct class of 80 but what about this other late class in oct? Is it going to be another 80? It seems a bit odd the department would actually do something to help us instead of hinder us. It just seems to good to be true.

Yea, this is the feeling everyone wants when they take the exam. If they do indeed put these two large classes in, the list will have about 100 names left until its completion. Those 100 names will be gone before the end of the year because its a guarantee that they put one last class in between october and December; if not two.

A bunch of reasons----The academy has 1650 recruits in, and the attrition rate is very low due to the volatility of the economy. Mass retirements due to the worsening political upheaval between the police and the liberals, The projected 1800 recruit class in January, the large early 90s classes are retiring, the 25+ guys are calling it quits because of the looming threat of losing it all and being a scapegoat for B.s...MAKES THE PERFECT STORM FOR MASS PROMOTIONS.

Gluestick, are you just guessing or that's what you are hearing through the grapevine?

I've called around and nobody seems to have an answer yet to as when the class will go in but on a positive note, everyone is treating it like the next class will be in September.

That kinda seems alot that promotions has the list cleared up to at 636. Ive seen inpast classes they usually clear w few more than what goes in the next class. Whats the chance they make it up to 600 or higher to go in in next class?? Maybe they are just ahead of schedule, or maybe its just at this point in the game we are all on top of our credits etc.. Any thoughts? Stay safe.

Ringer, the list is at 499, rumors say about 80 will go into the September class and you figure a few pass overs will put you pretty darn close to 600. But I think the department is just preparing for the next couple of classes. Maybe they cleared September Bmoc class and now they've begun clearing October/next bmoc class as well... Again I have no concrete information, as I am just speculating.
