Here's a little bit of good news, obviously everything on this forum is speculation until the last minute when it's finally announced, but anyway. Someone known who had gone to write the 09' test was recently contacted to come back and write the next one. They should be notified within the next few weeks to go and with that being said it's looking like there will be another Sgt's test by the end of this year. Also, if you go to The Fast Tracks website first thing that's listed on their home page is them saying that there's indications there will be a Sgt's exam by the end of 2011. I would say the Fast Track's info is pretty reliable. To me it looks like they're going to finish the 09' list by the beginnning of 12' so whoever is on it keep your head straight and stay focused and you'll get made. I give the 09' list 10 months to completion. Those of you who didn't make it and want to get a jump on it I would suggest to start studying. Take it for what it's worth folks.

Not true at all...DCAS has no exam scheduled for this year, and yes 3 year wonder they did get called to write the test but Kelly decided at last minute not to have an exam this year due too budget cuts/low man power....no future sgt. class till fall.

Well the fact that they have yet to announce the LT's exam had got me wondering the same thing. Coupled with the fact that the schools are speculating a test at the end of the year leads me to believe there is some truth to these rumors. I guess we will find out soon when they actually announce these exams to the public and make it official. Hopefully this list begins to pick up with back to back classes.
There is no way there will be a Sgt test this year because it would be impossible for the key and fasttrack to run both a sergeants and LTs course simultaneously. There schedule is full as it is and these instructors are way too hooked up not to know that. My guess, LTs test will be late November 2011, and that's when the sgts classes will start for an April 2012 Sgts test.
Jimmy McNulty, I thought the same thing but today I heard from a Lt (I know, only a Lt but I think he's in the loop) that the department is pushing for an exam for November but that DCAS is trying to push it to early next year. I'm on this list so it doesn't matter either way for me but I find it interesting that these classes (KSA,The Key, Fast track and Rising Star) have begun w/out a concrete test date. What is the hold up of announcing the Lt. exam? I think the only plausible explanation is that the department and DCAS are working on a solution to possibly run both exams at the same time or pretty much back to back. I really don't believe the department cares about these promotional classes and how they are going to teach the material, I think they just want to get another sgt list going because our list is moving faster than they expected and they don't want to be left without a list to hire from. I am as far away as you can be from the "sources" so take this info for what it is, a rumor and my opinion.
jimmy mcnulty is a house mouse. the instructor at the key told us on sunday that they had other locations set up for sgt's classes. also i don't think that the official annoucement for exams are always 6 months prior to the test.

In the past, the city usually goes through lists quickly (sgts) while having a backup list because the city was in need of Sgts. Why are they coming out with another sgt exam? Is it because the city is planning on hiring a large amount of sgts/cops over the next couple of months/years? I don't know but thats why we have these forums to speculate and pass information that we hear from the grape vines. Lets just be adults about it and communicate with each other.

Detox touche(tu-shay) that's exactly why I started this thread...The fact that a Sgt's exam is going to be given by the end of this year hopefully goes to show they will stay steadily promoting. We all just need to wait and see, but a new Sgt test is definitely a good sign.
FYI, I believe that The Key was running both LT. and Sgt. classes simutaneously for a bit in 2006. It's obviously not for the whole duration of the class anyway, as the LT classes have started, and the Sgt classes wouldn't start for a month or two. I highly doubt that would be a deciding factor as to whether the job is going to give a new Sgt. exam anyway.
The classes are a private business and the job isn't going to make their plans around The Key or The Fast track, even if their instructors are Inspectors and Chiefs. The academy gives FREE classes too, and I don't think it says anywhere that the job has to provide instruction for exams. Get your head out your ass people....... (Espescially McNulty, you rookie idiot!)

I Googled the Key's website and when I looked at the link that came up there was no mention of a scheduled Sgt class. Can someone please give me the link for the Key's upcoming Sgt class? Best regards.
