That's exactly what it is. I wouldn't hold your breath on anything positive though for the 1200 of us promoted after April of 2006. Any major changes to salary structure or retro pay will be incumbent on givebacks from the entire membership. I don't see a guy at top pay who has nothing to gain, being for givebacks to help 1200 junior sgts. We will see though. More to come.
Word on the meeting...Pay structure will be adjusted with retro pay and PO's sick regulation apply to sergeants. Contract will be extended by a month. Ballots will be sent out to all the members.
A schedule will be release detailing pay structure. Rumor has it that the first batch of sgt hired after April 1, 2006 will receive approx. $7,000 in retro. Recently hired sergeant will slightly make more than top pay cops.

He pretty much gave you the specifics Phil. One step removed to top pay, and retrooactive pay based on when you were promoted. The giveback sought by the city is an extension of our current contract by 29 days. The new proposed contract must be voted on by the entire union. Sounds like a steal to me and it should pass...but who knows.
new proposal 7/1/08 step one 73,745 , 8/1/09 step one 76,695 vs po on 7/1/09 76,500 but po gets 1500 longevity increase again a po makes more than a sgt .
They suck...but they suck just a little bit less then the steps do now. If we could just fix the longevity I'd be satisfied. P.O.s get a 1500 dollar longevity boost and we get BRRRRRRRT (that was a fart).
