this whole delay is driving me crazy. this feels like deja vu all over again. the same kind of bull**** with the 2003 sgt's exam. its nothing but waiting. the best is when some old timer lieutenant asks, " what's going on with the list?" my response is getting close to, "why dont you ****ing retire and we shall see dick!!!!!!!" we all worked hard and deserve to be promoted. people say the job did the right thing by promoting everyone off the old list. i agree 100% with that. but, by doing that, they're screwing everyone on the new list. my list # is in double digits and it looks like im gonna wait over a year from the time the list was established to when i get promoted and thats bull****.
The question is when they finally do start promoting off the list at what rate will it be?Does anyone know how long it took to get through 500 names on the 2003 list??Another thing is that a lot of LTs will now be bailing out of Narcotics.I also think they are getting some contractual money in Oct and begin to leave.Lets see....
I don't know how long it took to get through 500 names on the 2003 list. But I do know that the first half of their list moved at a very steady pace and in fact the first number of classes from their list were very large. Unlike now, back then there was a fairly large gap between promotion from the list prior and the 2003 list and the job was short a lot of Lieutenants. I can tell you one thing, month after month retirements for Lt's are becoming less and less. Promotions slowed dramactically during the last half of the 2003 list and that pattern is likely to continue. I hate to even say this considering they haven't even started to promote, but i think a large group of people on this list are going to be in jeapordy and I may be one of them
Also I wouldn't make any bets on people leaving because of contractual money coming to them. Everyone thought that when the LBA settled and when the CEA settled. In fact the exact opposite happened. Most decided to stay and some actually came back to the job to make this money.
Don't forget that when the 2003 list came out they hadn't promoted Lt's in a couple months, so they had a lot of vacancies when they started that list.
