Sgt Mentoring

Anyone hearing if they are planning on doing the Sgt Mentoring program again this summer?  If so, how many people they are planning to send?

Normally your intel is correct bacon but here its not. Sgt mentoring is happening but not sure how the program will look this time around. The way the program worked last year it was basically like summer all out for the next 100 or so guys on the sgt list who worked in admin commands.

But the guys who went loved it. They were actually shadowing sgts..doing the desk/patrol..getting use to being on patrol. I honestly think it's a great program

Well depends on who you ask.. I was On a fixer/foot post most of the 2 months I was in The command I got Assigned to. Not much shadowing or learning anything from the supervisors. Not everyone got the experience this mentoring program was meant to be.

Looks like OP was right on the money.

Relevant quote from the CoD:

"In addition to that, we have around 100 cops who passed the sergeant's test, that we are going to move them out to commands, also for the summer," Monahan said.

Is this the final list of names, and if so... when will the mentoring begin? Will the cops on this list be able to pick their commands or its random?

thx

it Looks like the final list to me. Thats what I received on my email Along with a 49. The transfer will be in effect on June 14th though September 7. The people on that list have until June 1 By 1600hrs to send an email back to the email address on the 49 with the top 3 cmds that they want  But it also states that those 3 cmds are not guaranteed

Why would you see your name on it if you're between those numbers. .  . . You "should be " going in june

Yeah I didnt read his previous post right. I thought he meant people in that range were also on all out list. yeah I guess that means they are planning a class of 50 in June, why else would they skip that many names

could be true. But list 180 is next to get promoted. ano He's on this list why would they be skipping him and then move up to 187 and then skip all the way to 233. I guess we will have to wait and see what is the logic behind it until the next class.

I remember last year they were talking about sending people who have been out of patrol commands for certain amount of time as a refresher training. Maybe because  one is in Narco and the other one is housing? No idea, just guessing.

Anybody know from prior experience if the mentoring program is steady days, regular squads, on all tours, travel time like all out, varies by command?Anything further than what the email stated

So when I did It last year we had steady weekends off so when we went to BMOC it was an easy transition. It was either day tours or 4Xs and even tho its a temporary assignment labor relations said no travel time smh. Hope this helps

I'm on this list but I didn't get any email, anyone else in the same boat as me? How could I give my top three pics, and I never got the email? Also some of these guys (myself included) are already in patrol commands. What's the point in putting us in other patrol commands??.. seems like this is just gonna be another form of "All Out"

I know in my command last year they were put in patrol squads, and all three tours. After the first week, once the command realized it wasnt actually required to be pre-sgt training and they were still allowed to be used however needed, they were on fixed posts the rest of he time there.

I disagree. Even if worst case scenario people are put on foot posts, it a two least takes people out of admin positions and into commands. Ideally theyd shadow a Sgt or be a sector, but at least theyre doing some fashion of police work and getting a sense of patrol.
