Its still all about the vacancies. Has a Capt list ever been cut? Any gurus can advise?

Yep, your score pops right up.  They give you a print out.  Looked like a decent amount of happy faces.  A lot of 80s and 90s.

Three Lts in my command passed. This seems fair like the Lt exam.

And afaik only the Lt exam was ever cut. In 2003 and 2006. Past then i dont have the time on the job hah.

I barely passed.... but with the amount I studied I'll take it.  I'll enjoy being a LT for a few more years at least.

I don't think so, but who knows this could be a list of 250 and that could be problematic.

Even a list of 200 would be unprecedented! 2010 exam-125; 2012 exam-63; 2013 exam-63; 2014 exam-118.

I think the 2006 Captain exam had over 200 names.  Can anyone confirm?

Congrats to all that passed. It was a fair test if you studied hard you passed. Average amount of Captain promotions is 40 per year. I'm glad the job started giving people a chance to pass regardless of list size, the ones that studied harder will get made, seniority in rank, JST points, medals will all be a part of the promotion process again. I for one think that is a good thing.

4 years. Next test was in 2010. The 2002 capts test had 271 on the list. All the captain exam in the 90s had over 250 on the list. The pass rate was the top 250 scores plus ties. For lieutenant it was the top 1000 scores plus ties and sgt was top 1750 plus ties. All the lists in the 90s got made. The reason the 2006 capt exam had fewer than 250 on the list was because it was the first captains test with a 70% pass rate.

Everyone will get made. Next test 2021 though. Looks like the job is going back to longer lists and less frequentl exams.

Thats how it used to be.

85 for me. Studied like crazy....test was so straight forward that I thought I was being tricked. The language of the answers was not patrol guide speak which was the only difficult part about it.

Failing one test can put someone so far behind lol Enjoy having to never actually open the patrol guide again.

I say atleast double the 2014 list. 250 easy.

Yes it was but there were tests in 2012 and 2013, so very few people became eligible between 13 and 14 exams. Was the middle of the 11 Lt test and those who missed the 12 and 13 exam.

This test (2017) has the whole 2015 Lt list plus the 2nd half of 2011 as first time eligible. Should be a bigger pool than the 128 or so on the 2014 list. Im thinking 200.

I got a 70. I think everyone should just relax a little. Enjoy passing and being done with yet another exam. Enjoy it, enjoy your families again. I have heard of some people that failed. It was a fair test. And should be a good sized list. But guys need to just lax out with the whole cutting the list nonsense. Wait for an amount first. Besides not like were in a bad rank at the moment

Rmp103 you passed thats the most important thing . You should be happy that you passed this test. just relax and wait for your time . Im pretty sure people who failed this test wish they scored the 71 you scored . Congrats

Everyone will get made...the job has over promoted lists in the past, most recently the current Sgt list to get them in for the 2017 Lt test. They did this once on the 03 Lt test as well. If they over promote, they just delay the next exam coming out. Hence why the 2006 Lt list wasn't activated until 2008.

The list will not get cut and the list will not be as big as some of you think. Remember in the past there have been many " fair " exams where people also got 90's. Don't let the noise of the people who pass fool you. Many have failed.
