More info about the rank

Can anyone who is an actual captain or at least knowledgeable on the topic give some insight about the rank? as far as tours, having the duty, getting bounced around, days off.  I never hear anyone speak highly of the rank and the low test taking numbers are also larming.  any info would be great

Did you check the thread a few links below this one?

The rank is fine. If it were that bad, people would be taking demotions en-mass. I have under 15 years on, make $140k, take home car and make my own hours, all in a patrol command. I have better quality of life in this rank than any other rank.

Do Captains have consecutive RDOs? Or are they split? Sun/Mon as opposed to something like Mon/Thurs.

Everyone I know has a piece of the weekend, subject to the occasional duty or detail interrupting that, in which case you can adjust your missed RDO to something else.

If you wind up hating it, plenty of details (investigative and administrative) are always looking for captains.
