SBA Benefits vs LBA Benefits

I dont have children yet but likely in the near future that will happen.  For me this means my kid(s) will be young when time comes for retirement.  I hear the Lieutenants benefits are "not as good" as the Sergeants.  Is this true and if so can anyone advise what the difference(s) are active vs retired?

Good question. I hear children of retirees aren't covered for prescription meds,, then I heard it changed. Anyone know ?

I'm not close to retiring but I'd imagine if I was and had young kids, paying $600-1000 a month for health care might not be worth the promotion

Then I see all these lieutenants with young kids and think maybe they improved it, or these lieutenants just don't care?

Benefits defiantly are not as good as far as dental, prescriptions and vision but your family is covered when you retire that did change a few years ago. Don't be stupid. Take the promotion

I'm not saying to not take the test or promotion, there are other reasons for that, I just want to know how bad/good the benefits are active vs retired.
