You would have to pray that the last 30 do not count or at least a large portion of them are research questions. Which I honestly do not think is likely. It would completely defeat the purpose of adding these questions, which is to make sure you DO NOT know which questions count . I also do not believe that the would specifically state that they would be randomly placed throughout the exam , if they were not.

I am so stressed! I studied for months and never missed a class. I didn't get past 100. I don't know why I thought rhat the last 30 were the questions that didn't count. Could anyone let me know what thw last 30 were all about or should I be ok?
We are all upset about this. we studied so hard, gave up our summer with family and friends to pass a test which we were'nt given enough time to complete. this is unfair and we want answers!!!
HAS ANY OF THE KEY INSTRUCTORS COMMENTED ABOUT THE EXAM???? THERE WERE 6500 PEOPLE WHO TOOK THE TEST, THE FAIREST THING TO DO IS THROW OUT 30 WRONG ANSWERS FROM EVERYONES EXAM. THIS WILL MAKE THE LIST PROBABLY 3000 NAMES LONG BUT NO ONE COULD SUE, WHINE, OR BITCH ABOUT THINGS BEING UNFAIR. LET DCAS AND THE NYPD HIRE THE HIGHEST 1500 PEOPLE OFF THE LIST THEN CUT IT. I SPOKE TO THE GUY WHO CREATED THE KEY COURSE ON CRAM 3 OF THE SGT CLASS AND HE SAID HE SPOKE TO THE HEAD OF DCAS ABOUT THE EXAM AND THEN SAID TO ME MAKE SURE YOU FOCUS ON THE FIRST 100 QUESTIONS ONCE YOU FINISH THOSE DONT LEAVE THE OTHER QUESTIONS BLANK JUST TRY TO GET TO THEM.
Has anyone considered the the additional 30 random questions are going to be used to help certain societies numbers in the rank or some high ranking officials son , daughter , or relative by tossing out a question or questions that certain percentage of test takers got correct or wrong. Just saying !
FOR THE PEOPLE WHO RAN OUT OF TIME. IF THE RESEARCH QUESTIONS ARE EVENLY DISTRIBUTED THROUGHOUT THE TEST THEN IT WOULD MAKE NO SENSE TO DO THE INBASKET FIRST. STATISTICALLY SPEAKING A PERSON SHOULD DO THE OTHER 114 QUESTIONS AND WHAT LITTLE TIME THEY HAD LEFT THEY SHOULD FINISH DO THE INBASKET. YOU SHOULD HAVE A GREATER PROBABLITY OF PASSING BECAUSE THE INBASKET IS EXTREMELY TIME CONSUMING.
UNFORTUNATELY I DID THE INBASKET FIRST. AS OF NOW I HAVE 87 QUESTIONS RIGHT OUT OF THE FIRST 100 AND ONLY 5 RIGHT OUT OF THE LAST 30. I SHOULD HAVE DONE IT THE OTHER WAY WASNT THINKING THINGS THROUGH AT THE TIME OF THE TEST. THIS IS AN UNFAIR ADVANTAGE THAT THE PEOPLE WHO TOOK THE TEST AT A LATER DATE HAVE.

I totally agree. I always do my inbasket first and I only got to finish through 112. Base on the answer key I have 84/100 and 94/112 or u can say 94/130.

Bro I'm sorry man I'm in the same page as you. I always start my test from 1 to the end when I got to question 95 and had 10mn left and got to question 100 I said what the f....ck and everyone looking at me I almost have an heart attack and the bell ring. Why dcas have to do something like that
I don't care what people think. I took The test for the first time and I always say that 6 hrs is a lot of time for 100 questions, when you seat down concentrate for the test you ll b surprise how time goes fast and dcas don't even give and extra 15 mn that's really unfair.
Guys it was clearly stated in the packet that the research questions were spread out randomly through out the exam. I know we get nervous at times, but we have to really be careful when reading instructions.

Seriously every single thread talking about these stupid questions should be closed.

Not really. You reading these posts? These are cops for chrissakes...potential supervisors. A person reading this would think this forum consisted of a bunch 9th graders that got cut from their junior varsity baseball team.
bro they all just want to cry about semantics! Listen, the facts are that there are ppl that completed the test....not by just filling out any answer. That tells me two things, either the guys who didnt finish didnt know the material well enough to complete the test or ppl arent good at taking tests. Should the second half of those be punished by a test they couldnt finish?? unfortunately the answer is yes and any important test taking technique is time management and know how to take a test. You can study all you want but if you cant take a test doesnt matter.
Listen I hope dcas pay you some of the money cause the way you talking that's against us. I know for a fact that a lot of people make a lot of mistake not read the direction but not 30 extra questions when each question is a half of a page, the problem is that a lot of guy put the time to study when they could pass without the extra 30 questions cause their ran out of time. At be considerate not to look to dcas side only
JB if you are complaining about this test and questions being half a page long you must have not seen the older sgt.'s exam which one question took up the whole page... I'll buy you some Kleenex bro...

Can't say I disagree with stiggity and sgt2b. I am one of the "slow" test takers, hell I am pretty sure I have a slight learning disability but I wanted this bad and I worked hard for it. I read the instructions because I knew they had something up their sleeves, EVERYONE should have expected the worst from DCAS after that amended notice. Point blank if you didn't you were not mentally prepared for the test ! Once I saw 130 questions I budgeted my time and did not take one break, I didnt get up once ! It was hard but I knew I had to finish this, that should have been everyone's attitude. So stop your bitching, you were not prepared, period ! I am a slow test taker so no one has any excuse! While everyone was getting up taking breaks I was zoned into the test. I am sure rushing hurt me but I finished it.
I agree with you ManHands. First thing i did was read the instructions. Then when i saw it was 130 questions, I just dug in to it. I left the inbasket for last, and I was able to finsih in time. Like you I did not get up for any breaks. I was rough, but i was able to finish in time.
I am talking to those who keep saying that the last 30 "DO NOT COUNT". The NOE did stated that additional questions will be added to the test and the front of the test package clearly stated that additional questions will be spread through out the test and you "SHOULD" answer all questions"...if you left, after Just 100 questions with time on the books don't cry because you were warned and you are a grown up and "SHOULD know better"..and if you did not bothered to see what they were asking in the last 30 questions than shame on you. All 30 extra questions were PG relevant questions not "Research" questions...I did take a bathroom break and I finished the entire test with 2 minutes to spare and I am a slow reader. It's a shame what DCAS did as many did not have time to finish. The Time allotted "SHOULD" be the argument not whether the first, middle or last 30 counted....This was all a sneaky way of DCAS diluting the promotional list. They gambled with people lack of concentration, " Hair-bag" attitudes, and "lucky Saturday aficionados" at the cost of legit test takers and by the looks of it DCAS Won.
