10-15 questions get thrown out and we get a list of 1200 again and 600+ people do not get promoted. I do not know if this is a good thing or a bad thing. We might fight win and still get screwed. At least if there is another test in two years then that one will be fair. I am just wondering.
10-15 thrown out will multiply the list by 6 times what it is now?!! I highly doubt it. Unless absolutely everyone picks up all 10-15 and all have a 60 and up right now.
Another test? What is going to be on the next test? If you let them experiment on these tests we are all getting F..ked. If they did not learn not to mess up a test after the last Capt test maybe it"s time for us to act.
by throwing 15 questions in 2010 captains test the list did not quadrupled. it added another 65 names. and i am pretty sure there were also LT"s who had 64-66, 67, 60 and so on Similarly here the list will be doubled.i know and you know busloads of sgt's who got mid to low 50's....
I DON'T CARE IF EVERONE MAKES THE LIST, ALL OF US STUDY OUT BUTT'S OFF AND WE SHOULD AT VERY LEAST GET A FAIR TEST. THAT ALL I WANTED WAS A GOOD TEST I WAS VERY READY FOR THAT. AND WHAT I GOT WAS A 10-30. WELL I AM GOING TO PROTEST, AND WE MAY NOT GET ALL THAT WE SHOULD BUT WE SHOULD GET THE SAME IF NOT MORE THAN THEY GOT ON THE CAPT EXAM!!!! THERE TEST WAS MESS UP TOO. SO 10N TO 15 SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM.
Totally agree with u. A lot of guys I spoke to all scored between 60 and mid 70. If they do 10-15 throw outs, definitely at least 800 to 1000 will make it. U can't compare our exam to capt's exam, just amount of people took the tests r so significantly different. Not a single sgt I know didn't study hard for the test. I would say at least 500 to 800 guys r in the 60s. So either way, it is lose lose for us.
well I have to agree, I got a 65, two of my friends got 63, I know five people with a 60, a guy in my command got a 69 and a friend just text me this morning that he got a 62 and thats the people I spoke to. It does seem like a lot of people got in the 60's,
If they throw out 10-15 questions, you will get a huge list and the people with Original 60-65 will prob die on list anyway. 65-69 will prob get made. Its all relative.
We all had the same disadvantage of these questions. We need to accept this already. Enough crying about it. It's alot worse for those that will die on the 06 list, and they're not crying as much as this. Suck it up.
Ok , so now that you've guessed correctly on these judgement questions should make it alright ? It's a ridiculous argument not to fight them. If you got them right, good for you, for these who have them wrong they need to be appealed. Btw, i did request some assistance from rising star to review my protest regarding these questions, they did state every judgement question that you got wrong should be challenged, there was no source document provided.
you guys are forgetting that some people will get up to 5 points for time in rank (if they make the list).... they may be in the 60's and when some people will pick up 10-15, they will pick up 15-20 points

Wow! I don't even know where to begin with that statement of self-preservation. Maybe we can give the throw-outs and double answers only to the rookie sergeants so the guys with time in rank don't pass up the new guys. Bumpy, you do realize the point of throw-outs and doubles is that the question or answer was wrong from start, don't you? If the questions/answers were better written originally, these guys would have gotten most of them right, and received their (well deserved) seniority points from the get-go.
your misinterpreting what im saying... i get 5 points... i wrote that for the people who say it will not help those in the 60's... on the contrary, it think it will help some
Yeah. I definitly misunderstood then. Sorry about that. You were referring to guys getting a 70 after throw-outs then a 75 with seniority so they might not die on the list? I'm not trying to be a ball breaker, I just really don't know what you meant.
If they throw out 10-15 questions like some people advocate then you WILL get a large list and people will definitely die on the list. Look at the current list. It has moved at a snails pace. The list is nearing the four year mark and they are only at the half way point. Compare this to the 2003 Lieutenant list where a list of 1000+ was completely promoted by 2007. If the trend continues of slow promotions then another large list will not be promoted. On ExamX they have posted no promotions for November and maybe some in December based on ONLY 36 vacancies. So in three months only 36 people will be promoted. Use this when thinking about just making the list with 10-15 questions being thrown out.

10-15 will not take a 241 person list to a 1,000 person list i just dont see how! Majority of people will pick up maybe half the throw outs so like 5-7 points at most, who knows some may only pick up 2-4. If absolutely everyone picked up the grand total of 10-15 and everyone has a 60 or better right now then that may be a big list. but otherwise not happening.

I passed with a 73. I got 2 wrong on the in basket #4 and #5, surprised it wasn't more since the in basket was a hot mess. I got 20 PG questions wrong! PG questions I thought were the most poorly written on the entire exam, too vague to narrow down the correct choice on many. I only got 5 judgement questions wrong.
I know some judgement questions were really unfair with violations of PG rules in some of them, but many were obvious. My point is not all of them were unfair. The ones were we have a real shot to appeal are the ones that blatantly violate PG rules. As for others? I dunno? I mean who determines why one opinion is better than the other? I have no idea how that works or who is the God of DCAS telling everyone what is right and wrong?
Patrol Guide is my Bible, but is there a DCAS Bible we can all see to tell us right from wrong? It just seems like its tough to protest something abstract we cannot reference.
I DO UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE STAYING. THERE ARE SO MANY SGT'S THAT HAVE 60'S, THAT IF THIS TEST WAS A FAIR ONE, THEN THEY WOULD HAVE MADE THE LIST ANYWAY. THIS EXAM JUST SHOW'S ME IF THEY JUST GAVE A FAIR TEST THERE STILL WOULD BE A LARGE LIST. THIS EXAM WAS NOT FAIR OR RIGHT. GIVE ME A FAIR EXAM AND I WILL PASS. BUT JUST DON'T TELL ME TO STUDY FOR HISTORY AND GIVE ME A MATH TEST.

Honestly u need to proof read prior to posting lol.
I need 10 points right now and know it's an extreme long shot, and furthermore, I'd rather there is another test in 2-3 years than a 1000 person list which there would have to be for me to make the list. We are all simply estimating of course, but I think if you had people with 60's like myself making the list, the list would be around 1000. Everyone in my command got about the same score I did, and I work in a very large command.
So be it you work hard I am sure, and you should be on the list. If you had an 80 we would not be having this conversation. It's just the number if 1000 pass then a 1000 passed. 241 out of I think 2600. please that just far to many people failed, and more than half study there ass off. we need to protest hard. and get as much toss, so there will be a list that makes sense. Even if this test did not we look at all the 60's that they should be mid 70's or 80's.
1chief legitimately sounds like an Indian from an old western movie. "Me thinkum this test hard. Many fail. It no fair. List is small. I am angry. Grrr." I think if they toss out the 8 grammar questions you got wrong Chief, you'll be fine.
If the test was still graded based on how many slots were expected to be needed to be filled, then we would not be having this conversation either. Making 70 passing was so stupid.

Just saying it seems like everyone I talk to, even those who barely studied got in the mid sixties. If there are 10-15 throw outs I think list will grow a lot.

Who knows how many LT's the job needs or wants? Is that an OMAP duty? Someone here has to know how many LT's they wanted. The number of throwouts will make the list that large, it won't be based on what's fair and what isn't.

The job doesn't create the tests with a specific number of anticipated vacancies in mind. You could probably get a projection on the expected attrition of Lieutenants though.
The job used to tell dcas that they needed 500 Lt.s over the next 4 years. The test would be graded on a curve and a list of 500, maybe a little more, would be made. So people with a 55 would pass. I have to assume that is why they changed the passing score to a 70. Who wants to have a boss that got a 55 telling them what to do? I still think at the end of the day the job/city is going to do what they want. No matter how hard we try we are going to get screwed by the city again.
