I'll be going to The Key because they have classes in SI. I plan to read the handout and do the questions daily then review older handouts every three weeks. Hope it works.
One recommendation, stay away from older handouts. The answers can be outdated which means a wrong answer on your exam. I know it doesn't sound like a big deal but I noticed a lot of questions come from the newest interim orders. So stay on top of it. Other than that, you guys will do fine. I did the Key w/ the KSA patrol guide. Worked out for me. I know others who strictly studied the actual patrol guide and they did better then me. It's all about how high you want to pass by, you want to be at the top of the list read the PG twice plus the class (Fast track or The key) and get the rising star material. If you devote your time, i'm sure you will pass.
By older handouts I did not mean previous exams. I meant that as the course progresses I will periodically re-read previously given handouts from the same exam course, besides reading current lessons, to keep them in my memory. I hope that nobody will study handouts from other exams. It would be a mistake. The PG should be used instead. I didn't mean to confuse anyone.
keep a section with u at work.. make index cards.. play cd's in ur car.. i put the cd's on my ipod when i work out.. every little bit helps and it adds up.. but dont burn out too early. its a marathon
Where can I get it? I have an anemic and inadequate PG for the iPod touch that is very much useless. It would be fantastic to get an iPad version of a good PG or the KSA guide. If you know where I can get it please let me know. Best regards.

That's the one I have. I bought it last year and have yet to receive one update. It's missing so much info I don't see any use for it. Paper is fine, and what I must use because of lack of choices.
I'm very happy there will be another exam. I never thought it would happen so soon.
I wish I could buy an iPad version of the KSA guide or the PG.
Many of the promotional schools offer the patrol guide in PDF form. If you are attending one of them and have received the CD, you can use iTunes and upload the PDF files to your iPad using any one of a number of PDF apps (my personal favorite is Good Reader).

I AM A BOSS NOW WORD OF ADVICE, STUDY THE WAY YOU THINK WILL WORK FOR YOU. DONT STUDY HOW OTHERS DO, DO IT AT YOUR TIME AND MAKE SURE YOU RETAIN WHEN YOU STUDY. IF YOU ARE FALLING ASLEEP , CLOSE THE BOOK.... BE HUMBLE AND TXT OTHER WITH QUESTIONS AND MAKE SURE THEY TEST YOU ALSO.... AND THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE CAUSE SGT NATOU SAID SO.....
IM DOING THE SAME THING, PEOPLE WHO ARE IN THE LT LIST HAVE TOLD ME THAT THEY DID BOTH AND A LOT OF THE QUESTIONS THAT ARE ON RISING STAR TURN OF ON THE SGTS AND LT TEST.
Jailbreaking is legal but Installous is illegal and so is unlocking in most circumstances. I think that you are well meaning but maybe he should not go that route.
I'm so happy about this exam!!! Good luck to all who are studying.
Does anyone know when we will be getting the rising star materials in the mail? I purchased the course and haven't received any type of email notification or when the stuff will be sent out.
Week 1 for Sergeant will be going out on Tuesday. You should have gotten an email confirmation about this. Pls. email us at info@risingstarpromotion.com to reconfirm your email address.
Thanks

We don't have a specific "in-basket" course, but we cover the tricks and wordplay that is used in our test-taking technique portion of the lesson. Our 1500+- test-like questions will employ the tricks and pitfalls that are usually found in the in-basket as well.
Of course it all starts with reading the patrol guide. Attending The Key classes and supplementing that with the questions I received from Rising Star. Very good questions. One more thing that seems to really help is being tested by my friends with questions. I recommend getting a few close friends and just hit each other up with questions. Helps a lot. Oh and read the patrol guide some more.
What's your current study plan for these last two weeks? I've finished reading the patrol guide and started to review the rising star, key and police academy packets. I find that the Rising Star has the most challenging questions, and the police academy questions are the easiest. Hopefully the same person writing the academy material writes the test. How's everyone doing?
