I have been on a leave of absence from the job and away from this board for a few months. Are there any rumors about another sergeant exam? I know that everyone here is focused on the current list so I apologize for interrupting with my thread but I would really like to find out any info that's out there. Best regards.
I just heard a new rumor today. Not a reliable source but it doesn't sound far fetch either. NYPD will have another SGT exam in October/November of 2011. Again not a reliable source but I thought I should throw it out there to see if anyone has heard the same. I guess it could be possible due to the fact of so many Sgt. retiring. Nonetheless I hope this rumor is true because that would mean this department is continuing to hire/promote. For those that didn't pass, I hope this works out for you. Best of luck.
In regards to the next Sgt exam I think it will be this year because they're already up to 221 on the current list. IF they wait till the sumemr of 2012 the list will already be finished and thoere wont be another list behind it. If they give the test in the summer of 2012 the list wont be established until the summer of 2013. Are they gonna go a full year (2012-2013) with out an active Sgt list? I THINK SNOT.
Nobody is talking about summer 2012. The classes begin in summer 2011 and the test in winter 2012. By then dept. will finish our list and activate 2012. That's all
We are all just giving our personal opinions on the next test and promotions,nobody knows they are just seeing how thing go along with these big classes getting ready to retire....
When the '09 test was given there was about 300-400 people left from the '08 exam. If they look to do the same, there will be 300-400 people left from the '09 test within the next few months and in my opinion making it a good possibility for a test before the end of the year maybe early '12. Again I believe this all depends on the number of people retiring. The reason they're able to announce a LT test is because they know that the list is going to expire after being active for 4 years. With the Sgt list they have plenty of time and they can wait till the last minute to annouce a new one if they have to.

Their was actually more than 300-400 when we took the test, I remember when I was at fast track studying for 09 test the 08 test just became established

I think the next SGT exam will be this year almost half way through the list and it does not look like its slowing down. The city needs to have a backup exam if not they will have a disaster like the 2008 exam and put people in bmoc who werent suppose to be there. My money is on a December or January SGT Exam, with the current one being finished sometime in jan or feb 2012
There's a LT exam on the grid for October 2011. The next Sgt exam is not til 2012.
