No June Class possible July Class

I guess I should just start this new topic since there is no June Class. We were all  hoping for a June class but that is not going to happen. Now all we can do is hope for July but the way this is going I am not holding my breath. WTF is the hold up.

The June class isn't supposed to go in until the 2nd or 3rd week of the month so that graduation isnt until after july 1st. I wouldn't give up on the june class for a few weeks.

The list should be killed.  When I was on the job you needed at least an 81 in order to get promoted and even then it might not have been good enough.  There are so many "supervisors" who are incompetent as it is already.  Out of the 150 people remaining on the list, NOT ONE PERSON got more than 75 right on the test.   Why promote them when you can promote people who scored in the 90s.  Let's ask ourselves a serious question.  Who would we trust more with regard to knowledge of stop, question and frisk or verifying an arrest or a serious EDP situation procedure if one of our family members were involved and we werent around.  The patrol supervisor who scored in the high 80s and 90s or the patrol supervisor who got a 72 on the test and was shocked he or she even passed.  Who would we trust more to ensure nothing went wrong with our father who might be an EDP or to ensure that there is probable cause to arrest our mother if a police officer put handcuffs on her.  How many times have we seen Police Officers do something very wrong including our own partner for the day.   We need proper supervision out there.

Im not saying that if you scored low on the test you are automatically going to be a bad sgt. or vice versa, however lets use common sense and think about the general situation.  The sgt. who studied for 6 months and took the exam serious enough will more likely take other situations more serious than the sgt who didnt really care about the sgt exam enough to do well, so why trust him or her with caring about other situations where his or her supervision will be necessary for a serious police situation.  There are already too many sgts who are ignorant with basic patrol guide situations that will take someones freedom away, lets put a stop to it and start making bosses who are the "cream on the crop" and not the "bottom of the barrel".

Crane all I have to say to you is that you sir are an idiot. I'm not in this list so it does not affect me if they kill the list or not however your comments show me that you either now nothing about the job or you're angry because you can't even muster a 70 to get on a list. Test scores do not make good or bad bosses only civilians think like that you sir sound like an idiot.

kaysersoze69-- If it is true as you say "Test scores do not make good or bad bosses only civilians think like that you sir sound like an idiot." then why even have a passing score. Im sure that its ok for anyone who took the test to be put on the list ane eventually be promoted whether they got a 100 or a 10 because "Test scores do not make good or bad bosses". FOOL!!! Whatever happened to the importance of knowledge. You sir are a FOOL!!!

Coming from you that's a compliment anyone with common sense would see that what I meant was that a passing score is a passing score a boss who passed with a 100 is not necessarily better then the one with the 70 and anyone that has worked on the job knows bosses that aced every test and can't handle the streets. I'm done with you the last thing I want is for this board to turn into the rant plus as a civilian you know nothing about this job.

I studied my a$$ off and just passed cause I am not a good test taker and I had an unlucky Sat.(should have scored a 90 based on the time I put in) this means I shouldn't get promoted and I wont be as good a boss as the guy who got the 90?
This is rediculous and I doubt your a retired DI, I work at the Boro and talk with some big Bosses(above the rank of Capt.) on a daily bases and they would never make such an asinine comment. Do us a favor and stay off this site!!!

I've been checking this site everyday for over a year and seen some dumb posts but I had to create an account just for you "retired D.I." (1) If you really are a retired DI you have no life coming on this site, go enjoy your retirement loser, no one cares about how it was "back in your day". (2) 70 isnt good enugh to pass? I know someone on this job right now that got promoted with a 58 before Kelly made it a 70 cut off. And he's been just fine, (just a fluke Im sure). In closing I'm sure your not really a retired DI but just to amuse you, no one here cares about your opinion so go find a hobby loser. More important any news on the next class PLEASE

A retired D.I. huh...when did you get on the job?? Because according to your profile your 34...so you obviously were appointed straight from the womb to the rank of P.O. and screamed thru the ranks while simultaneously mastering the art of grade school...next time you want to "ruffle feathers" in an online forum why not be a little more thorough in your lies...stupid.

You my friend must be a Detective.  biggrin  Nice to point out that dudes profile.  What he fail to take into account is life experience, maturity, and ole fashion T on the J.  IMO the 3-5yr guys may score a bit higher on the test because they live at home with mommy, don't have to deal with their kids, allowed the time by their conditions SGT to stay down and study and scored a 90.  That's all good.  But from my expierence most of my good bosses were the OCCB, DB squad, or anti crime cops that got fed up with the everyday non sense and decided to crack open the book after 8-10 yrs on the job.  The promotion system should be based on more than good test taking skills.  It makes for a more well rounded supervisor.

Nothing I love more than a jerk of a boss that knows everything with less than 20 collars in their career.

As Montclaire03 said that the June class will not go in until the 2nd or 3rd week so that graduation isn't until after July 1st I to also heard something to that nature as well because of the new fiscal year. Its just what the job does so for now Im not even going to think about it, the waiting does suck. If anyone can get Ray Kelly on the phone we can settle this rumor crap ha ha.

Just to let you guys know.... It seems that there is some movement in regards to the promotion. There are phonecalls made to commands and letters send to medical districts inquiering if a perticular member will be full duty on 6/10. I don't know what it means. We can only speculate at this point.

Natou they send letter to my medical district and they had to put me full duty. Also I heard from 2 different people about a girl that was restricted and a guy who clearly wasn't ready for full duty but had no choice since he wants to get promoted. So something is going on, but since everything is top secret who the hell knows!

That is all good news, but they called someone I work with who is about 30 names away back in April who was out limited and told them to go full duty for the May class and they are still waiting. With the new fiscal year starting I do believe there has to be a class going in for July though.

I got an e-mail from KSA saying 40 Sgts are being promoted to Lt. on 6/25.
So you have to figure they will need to fill all those vacant Sgt. slots, hopefully plus some.
