first day of class was awful. it was sooo boring. we filled out a lil paper work but that was about it. did I say it was BORING!!!
--a lil side note- the instructors said the list isn't coming out until everybody gets hired off the old list.so it'll be out sometime in jan. read it and weep fellas
Yes the instructors made it sound like January for the list, but the Capt. from INRU made it sound like next week. He said that we are provisional promotees, which we are because as of now we have no list, but he said that we would be made official next week, which can only be done if the list gets made public. Just a little something to keep people hanging on.

u might be right. I don't remember that but he mustve said it when I was taking one of my many naps during the day.
He just said that people who go on examx, rant, rising star etc. need to get a life. I guess people took it to heart. Me, I have to much time on my hands.
I really didn't expect Bmoc to be like this. Everyone is so damn shaky. You can feel the tension in the air as soon as you walk into the classroom. If a guy walks in unshaven people are lookin, guys were wearing button downs and slacks to Gold St. Maybe its because there is no list and people are fearful of being sent back, but come on, lets lighten up a little.
Why wouldn't you shave? Why not dress appropriately? What does that have to do with being shaky? I thought the instructors there did a good job. I was expecting a Kool Aid Carnival. If anything, I thought they were trying to teach bosses to act like gentlemen.
The only shakiness I saw came from some of the guest speakers and my classmates. There were some clueless wonders in my class. God knows I still have an awful lot to learn about the job but you can tell some of these yahoos never so much as handled a radio run just by the questions they asked. I'm sure every class has them. It's that handful who asks questions which leave the rest of us looking at each other incredulously and just nodding our heads in disbelief.
I was just thankful I would never have to work for them.
I said it before and I'll say it again. Take it for what it's worth and enjoy the downtime.
And the question is not why wouldn't you shave or why wouldn't you dress appropriately, its why the f*ck would another cop care if someone didn't do the above.

Can't argue with that. Like I said, we had a few of those clowns too. When you get a real 'gem' of a boss you wonder, "Where the hell did this loser come from?' Well, now you know. They're the guys we all made fun of in the lounge. They just never 'got it' and they never will. Now that they're getting a pair of Chevrons they can't wait to get their revenge. They can't even wait until they are actually promoted for crying out loud.
Thankfully, you still enjoy the luxury laughing at them and telling them to go F--k themselves. After you done laughing say a silent prayer for the unsuspecting, poor, bastards in the squad they'll be assigned. Their lives will become a little less tolerable in just a few more weeks.
today was actually a good day. the SBA came in and we filled out paper work. they gave us a shield holder and boots(which r pretty nice looking & I would wear on patrol). also they had lunch for us. they explained the SBA to us and how it differs from other unions. they also told us that if the list doesn't come out we will get made under the "provisional" Sgt status.its kinda like being on probation only worse. then when the list comes out we become legit sgt's.a Sgt from emd spoke to us about cops getting paid more then a Sgt does the first 2 yrs in rank.she said if all goes well the city will fix that problem by jumping sgt's pay automatically to it's 3rd yr so Po's don't make more then sgt's which means we will all hit top pay in 2 yrs not 4!
what does a SGT currently make in their 3rd year ?? and what will a SGT make their 3rd year in 2010 at the end of their current new contract?? Dont forget, that 76,488 top pay cop does not go into effect until july of 2010. Does anyone know ??

Negative. Top pay cop makes 76,488 as of August 1, 2009. The contract expires July 31, 2010. A Sgt. at the third step makes 74,000. The first two steps at base are less than a top pay cop. Next year, its the same as top pay cop makes more at base than a sgt. for the first two steps.

as of 8/09 a 3rd step sgt makes 76,960 w/o longevity. i don't see them changing the sgt steps from 4 years to 2 years top pay. it would be nice but the city doesn't save money that way!
Being that the list is coming out tomorrow I hope nobody gets bumped by someone who just cleared.Personally I think the guys from the 62 are sweating it out.See you guys tomorrow! BTW taser training today was the best day yet considering i was hung over from tailgating at Shea.
